[BUG] Tabsettings for external lexers are not saved #16460

Description of the Issue
External lexers are listed in the settings dialog with their indentation settings, but changes are not saved.
Steps To Reproduce
- Install an external lexer plugin
- Open the preferences dialog and go to Indentation
- Select the external lexer from the Indent Settings list box
- Modify the indent settings
- Check the settings in the external_lexer.xml file
Current Behavior
No changes
Expected Behavior
external_lexer.xml gets modified
