The scripts in the subfolders BatchScript and VBScript demonstrate the usage of WMI permanent event consumers from within Windows batch scripts and VBS scripts. The noticeable benefit of WMI permanent event consumers is that they have to be installed only once, afterwards they are integrated into the system permanently.

The script VBScript\NewProcessCreationEventMonitorInstaller.vbs installs an event consumer that monitors the system for the execution of a new cmd.exe process. When this happens the handler script NewProcessCreationEventHandler.vbs is executed.

The script BatchScript\LANAdapterStatusChangeEventMonitorInstaller.cmd installs an event consumer that monitors the system's LAN adapter. Please Note: You have to adapt the script to your machine, search for the strings <Your LAN adapter name like shown in device manager> and <Your WLAN PNP DeviceId> and replace them with the appropriate data. Whenever you plug or unplug the network cable the handler script LANAdapterStatusChangeEventHandler.vbs is called (Note: The functionality of this script could also be implemented as a batch script). It activates (network cable unplugged) or deactivates (network cable plugged) the system's WLAN adapter. For this task it uses devcon.exe which is included in the Windows Driver Kit, Visual Studio and the Windows SDK for desktop apps. Just google for devcon.exe, you will find Microsoft sites that explain how to get it.
